2021 Virtual Armchair Affair

Tuesday, October 5th, 2021

For the safety of our fabulous donors and organizers, we’ve gone to a virtual format – again – this year for our fundraising efforts.

Even in these challenging times, we’ve been able to grow our endowments. Thanks to your continued generosity, the ESSCO-MGH Breast Cancer Research Fund has raised over $5 million enabling ESSCO-MGH Investigators to perform innovative breast cancer research for years to come. And as of today, we are only $23,000 away from reaching our goal of $2 million to fully fund the ESSCO-Slater Family Endowed Chair in Surgical Oncology.

We hope you’ll help us reach our goal by making a charitable contribution to our endowments. It’s simple and easy, and you can do it without leaving the safety and comfort of your home! Just click on the attached link and choose your method of giving.

Unique to our funds, every penny we raise goes directly to MGH.

As always, we thank you for your generosity and continued support!

2019 Virtual Armchair Affair

Thursday, September 19th, 2019

Join us for our Armchair Affair; a virtual event to raise money for the ESSCO-MGH Breast Cancer Research Fund & The ESSCO-Slater Family Endowed Chair in Surgical Oncology.

Without leaving the comfort of your home, you can help us reach our fundraising goals!

Preparations are underway for our 25th Anniversary Gala which will be held on Friday, October 9, 2020. Because we’re working hard to make the 2020 Gala extra special, we are hosting a virtual fundraiser this year.

Without leaving your armchair, you can donate to support the following innovative research programs at MGH:

*Clean surgical margins with the Lumicell Imaging System

*The development of machine learning models to predict recurrence of ductal carcinoma in-situ

*Treating early-stage breast cancer with immunotherapy

*Nipple-sparing mastectomy

*and more.

Click here to make a 100% tax-deductible contribution to the ESSCO-MGH Breast Cancer Research Fund and/or The ESSCO-Slater Family Endowed Chair in Surgical Oncology. 100% of the money you donate will go directly to funding vital breast cancer research at the MGH.

Thank you for your continued support!

Jim & Silvia Kyrios Donate $25,000!

Tuesday, September 22nd, 2015

As we approach the festivities celebrating our 20th year of fundraising for vital, high-risk breast cancer research at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA, we are seeing an overwhelming response to our efforts to cure breast cancer.

Thanks to Jim and Silvia Kyrios, long-time supporters of the ESSCO-MGH Breast Cancer Research Fund, we are that much closer to our goal. The Kyrios family just donated $25,000!

For those not familiar with our organization, we are an all-volunteer community of family, friends and colleagues who have been working to fund targeted breast cancer research for 20 years. We have one caveat to our fundraising: 100% of the money we raise has to go directly to research. We do not take one penny off the top for our fundraising, social networking or administrative purposes. That means, when you donate a dollar to the ESSCO-MGH Breast Cancer Research Fund $1 goes to research.

Thanks to the Kyrios family, we are now $25,000 closer to a cure!

Please join us Friday, October 16th to celebrate our 20th Anniversary Benefit! Tickets are $250. For more information about our fund or our 20th Anniversary Benefit, contact Missy Cohen-Fyffe at 603-635-9568.

Third-Party Fundraising Wrap-Up

Friday, October 26th, 2012

What a year!  Our third-party fundraisers have donated over $33,000 to the ESSCO-MGH Breast Cancer Research Fund this year, alone!

What’s a third-party fundraiser, you ask?  It’s an organization, outside of our fund, that plans an event for the sole purpose of raising money for us.  For example, the Sharon Country Club, the Meadow Brook Golf Club and the Salem Country Club all hosted golf tournaments and sent the proceeds to us.  The Bass River Tennis club hosted a Ladies’ Night Out tennis tournament to benefit our fund and the Friends of Reading held their 4th Annual ESSCO-MGH tournament and gave us the proceeds.

And there’s more.  This year, Mrs. Mugs – a great store in Sandwich, MA, – raised money for us from the proceeds of their Booby Buoys sales!  A group of women from Stow, MA, ran their 2nd Annual Stow Women’s Walk for us, and Ernst & Young sponsored a Jean’s Day.  Coming up, the Neponset Cafe in Canton, MA, will hold it’s annual Chili Contest for our benefit on November 17th.  We also have Didi Fisher Weinreb designing, producing and selling her GAMESETCURE T-Shirts to benefit the fund.  Get yours by emailing Didi @Didiweinreb@gmail.com.

If you’re interested in running a third-party fundraiser for us, please contact Missy at mcfyffe1@comcast.net, so she can send you goodies for your gift bags and arrange to publicize your event on facebook and on our webpage.  With your help, we can cure breast cancer one third-party benefit at a time.

Honoring Suzanne B. Lowell, Thursday, Oct. 11

Tuesday, October 9th, 2012

We are so excited to be honoring such a fabulous woman at this year’s 17th Annual Cards For A Cure benefit!

Suzanne’s efforts to assist women with breast cancer and to promote breast cancer treatment programs in the Boston community are widely respected.  Her dedication to the innovative research programs we fund, coupled with her own personal story, are just some of the reasons she is being honored Thursday night.

For more information about the event, please contact Missy Cohen-Fyffe at mcfyffe1@comcast.net or by phone at 603-635-9568.
